Outline:
The Higher Education Progression Toolkit project emerged from the activities of the Creative Way Dance Network, founded in July 2008. Via the Creative Way Development Fund, the Dance Network members work together to support and better facilitate student progression to higher education in dance through: knowledge-exchange; shared best practice; practical CPD; the formulation of information, advice and guidance materials for students and staff; and the development of progression agreements.
The Progression Toolkit project runs for two years, ending in December 2010. Students studying dance at the partner FE colleges are invited to attend practical days hosted by Laban each year in the spring term. These Progression Toolkit days give students the opportunity to participate in technique and audition workshops and receive information on HE applications, life as an HE student, and the various progression routes in dance. Partner Colleges are also invited to showcase student work at the Bonnie Bird Theatre, Laban, in the autumn term, providing an opportunity for students to gain a clearer idea of work that exists outside of their immediate points of reference.
