Outline:
This video diary describes the Creative Way-funded project which established UCA's new BA Creative Arts for Theatre & Film. The course concentrates on the creative design and realisation of visual aspects of theatre and film; set design and construction, model making, costumes, props and scenic painting. Exhibitions of current student work were very well received by partner colleges and employers during its first year.

The project set out to develop industrial collaborations, in order to give students greater exposure to professional working environments and to facilitate work placement opportunities. Its engagement with level three institutions within the Thames Gateway gave an insight into arts and performance courses – and their need for information about this sector. Forging curriculum alignments and formalising progression agreements was time consuming and had its difficulties, which are outlined in the commentary.
