Outline:
Responding to the announcement of a skills shortage in backstage areas, the technical theatre team at Barking College aimed to expand provision at L3 and L4 and raise awareness of employment prospects for trained technicians. This report outlines the process of establishing an L3 Technical Theatre course which prepares learners for a range of progression pathways in education and industry.

Practical workshops were held at local schools and relationships were built with a range of institutions in the Creative Way network.

The new programme prepares students for progression into a variety of subject areas at L4 including HNC at Barking College, BA Hons at Rose Bruford College and FdA/BA at East 15 (University of Essex).
