The UK craft sector covers a broad spread of activity from cutting edge work that is innovative in its aesthetic vision and use of material to traditional craft that supports and preserves our cultural heritage.
The sector has an estimated turnover in excess of £828million (larger than the fishing industry in England and Wales) and a total workforce of approximately 300,000.
A recent report commissioned by the Arts Council estimates that around 29% of England's population are existing or potential buyers of original craft.
