This course at UCA Rochester prepares students thoroughly for a career in fashion design. You are introduced to the principles and processes involved in fashion designing from trend analysis and concept development through to product development and promotion.

Basic pattern and production skills are introduced in the first year which are built upon throughout the three years to include techniques of modelling on the stand and bespoke tailoring techniques.

Design projects enable students to explore their design ideas from concept through to a final garment, concluding in a whole collection in final year.
Portfolio development includes computer aided design (CAD) training as well as developing traditional drawing skills. Additionally students are introduced to techniques to promote their work such as styling and marketing.

Industrial placements are an important part of the course and allow you to put into context what you've learned and to start planning your career.
