This course explores all aspects of the spaces in which people live, work and play. You are taken on an exploratory journey of the theory and techniques involved in designing interior space, especially in relation to the restructuring or remodelling of buildings.
You are provided with a sound understanding of the cultural context of architecture and design, a working knowledge of materials technology and the skills needed to create environments that are inventive and, at the same time, viable. Through 2D and 3D experimentation you focus on the use of form, scale, light and colour, combined with computer and building technology studies.
Computer aided design software is provided for personal use throughout the course.
Design practice is included in each year and the course is strongly linked with industry, with work placements supported in the final year through course contacts. Issues in sustainability and ecological building design processes are explored in relation to design projects particularly in years 2 and 3.

A Progression Agreement is a formal arrangement between two or more
education providers. It spells out what a learner needs to do to be
considered for a place on a named programme of study. Progression Agreements
may vary in the conditions they specify but they all aim to give guaranteed
pathways into higher education.
