The visual backdrop to modern life is generated by specialists in Web Design, Video and Motion Graphics or Graphic Design. We are surrounded by sophisticated screen-based and printed imagery that uses creative methods to communicate, persuade and inform. Consider how many examples of their work you are exposed to in a typical day: the websites do you look at, the adverts you see, the magazines you read, and the videos you watch on television, DVD or online. The most effective examples of these media are produced by experts trained in the technical, functional and creative principles of their disciplines. The creative and cultural industries have a growing demand for their professional skills. The exciting suite of media programmes at the Broadstairs campus has been designed to help you develop these skills.

BA (Hons) Multimedia DesignProfessionals in a wide range of industries benefit from hands-on experience of multimedia design software in order to enhance their business branding and marketing. This offers enhanced communication with customers through the design and creation of a wide range of promotional material such as design work, digital photography, imaging and websites.
In addition a clear understanding of the creative process used in the media industry is essential when working with external designers and companies, when, for example, commissioning graphic design work. BA (Hons) Multimedia Design gives students the opportunity to develop their knowledge and skills in multimedia production while broadening their expertise through the study of another subject such as Business Management or Music Technology. The programme is designed for those who have an active interest in multimedia design but may not necessarily have studied it in the past.
CONTENT AND STRUCTURE
At level one students gain essential skills in the core areas of digital imaging, web design and contextual theory. This combination gives students a balance of hands-on practical experience and background awareness to produce effective design for print and the screen, in turn this helps students make informed decisions about the modules they select at level two.
At level two students develop their creative skills and understanding of multimedia design and imaging, producing increasingly sophisticated practical design work such as advertising campaigns. At level two students can choose to study additional modules that are available, such as applied marketing and/or creative industry modules.
At level three students work on a range of creative multimedia design projects, combining the creative and technical skills that they have developed over the three years of the course. Students can choose to create web or design orientated projects, such as promotional websites or branding, or alternatively decide to focus on extending their theoretical awareness through the production of a dissertation.
