Course overview
BSc (Hons) Architecture is concerned with the design of the constructed environment. Exploring not just the design of buildings, but also the technical and management competencies required to realise those designs, this course provides an excellent foundation for anyone wishing to work within an architectural office.

The main aims of this degree are:

to introduce and develop the knowledge and skills required in architectural practice
to apply scientific, technological and organisational principles to a range of building design problems, and deliver appropriate solutions
to enable you to achieve a level of competence in creative design.
Fifty per cent of this course is design based, and design projects play a central role in teaching. You will benefit from a high level of support in design studio time and in regular tutorials.
A range of course options will allow you to focus on particular areas of interest or to focus on the requirements of a favoured career path.

When you graduate you will be able to:

demonstrate an in-depth understanding of architectural design and the associated regulatory framework
show a critical appreciation of the theories and principles of environmental technologies
demonstrate advanced graphic and modelling techniques.
As well as providing a stern academic challenge, this course is also about providing the right environment and support to allow you to develop intellectually and creatively. It is also about preparing you for a career within professional practice.
