This course examines the way professionals create film images and how new technologies affect those images and stories. Students are introduced to practical and theoretical issues around cinema, media convergence, new media, media industries and their management methods. Editing and design skills, animation production and digital video production are all core to the course. Options include sound design for moving image, cinematography and scriptwriting. This course provides students with skills to analyse, design and produce media for audiences and the industries that make this possible. Creative and professional practice is firmly linked to critical reflection.

You will take 17 core modules, seven optional modules (from a possible 22 options including Work Placement) and undertake research.

In addition to the University’s standard entry requirements, you should have 200 points from two or more A -levels (or equivalent). You will also need five GCSEs of grade C (or equivalent). Maths GCSE is not required. Applicants with international qualifications and mature applicants are welcome. This course is also available as a four-year extended degree, the first year of which is the Foundation Year Art, Media, Design.

A Progression Agreement is a formal arrangement between two or more
education providers. It spells out what a learner needs to do to be
considered for a place on a named programme of study. Progression Agreements
may vary in the conditions they specify but they all aim to give guaranteed
