Course overview
Computer Aided Visualisation will develop your creative and artistic skills and show you how to express them using the latest 2D and 3D design software.

The course has three main aims:

To provide you with the opportunity to develop your creative abilities.
To encourage you to think 'outside the box' in creating design solutions.
To give you the ability to take complex ideas and, through the use of 2D and 3D visual media, bring them to life.

By applying technology to an exploration of the world of art and design, you will learn techniques that will allow you to visualise a range of complex concepts and designs. By using software packages such as Adobe CS4 and 3D Studio Max, you can be confident that course content is closely aligned with contemporary professional practice.

Students will be taught using Windows and Apple Mac software and hardware.

The focus of this HND is to give you the practical skills you will need to succeed within a professional environment.

When you graduate you will be able to:

generate concepts, proposals and solutions in response to set briefs
employ a range of techniques and software applications to produce finished visualisations
show an appreciation of the relationship between the designer, the client and the consumer.

This course will certainly provide an academic challenge but it is also about encouraging you to think creatively and independently in providing solutions to real problems - an asset that will be greatly valued by a range of potential employers.

The content of the HND in Computer Aided Visualisation is identical to the BSc (Hons) Computer Aided Visualisation, except in the second year you will undertake a project, 'Design Methods and Technology Project'. The HND offers a stepping-stone for those students who found it difficult to meet the entry requirements for the BSc, and on receiving their HND they can transfer onto the BSc course.
