The ultimate aim of the MA Dance Performance is to develop performers who will contribute effectively and creatively to the profession, not only as practitioners, but also as articulate advocates for performance and performance practice. Together with the advancement of your skills as a performer, you will have the opportunity to formulate a deeper understanding of the technical and artistic complexities inherent in performance.
You will be encouraged to critically reflect on your development as a performer, in both the studio and the wider theoretical contexts.
The taught element of the programme consists of the following modules: Practice as Research; Advanced Technical Practice; The Performer in the Creative Process; Dance Performance; Project. To complete the MA programme, you will undertake an in-depth independent project after your time with Transitions Dance Company. This may take the form of a lecture-demonstration, a written dissertation, or a practice-based project with supporting documentation.
For an explanation of qualifications, have a look at our IAG page on this site www.creativeway.org.uk/quals. In addition to acceptance into Transitions Dance Company (through audition), you will normally have successfully completed a UK undergraduate degree in an appropriate or related subject; or hold an overseas award of equivalent standard (e.g. USA degree - GPA 3.00 or above). English Language comptency requirements also apply.
A Progression Agreement is a formal arrangement between two or more
education providers. It spells out what a learner needs to do to be
considered for a place on a named programme of study. Progression Agreements
may vary in the conditions they specify but they all aim to give guaranteed
pathways into higher education.
